Who we are
Marina del Rey Sportfishing is owned by Rick Oefinger. This policy explains how we handle personal information connected with this website, inquiries to our office, and reservations for our trips. Our contact details are below.
Information we collect
- Information you provide: When you contact us, we receive the name, email address, phone number, and other details you choose to share.
- Booking information: Reservations may include your contact information, trip date, party size, passenger details, payment status, and special requests. The details requested depend on the trip and checkout process.
- Website and security information: Our hosting and security providers may process IP addresses, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, and technical logs to deliver and protect the website. Website performance measurements help us understand loading speed and usage.
Please do not send payment card details or unnecessary sensitive information by email.
Bookings and payments through FareHarbor
Our booking links take you to FareHarbor’s reservation service. Information you enter there is handled through FareHarbor and its payment providers. This website does not directly collect or store your full payment card number.
We use the booking information available to us to manage your reservation, communicate about your trip, provide customer service, and handle related records. FareHarbor provides booking services on our behalf; using its checkout does not remove our responsibility for the customer information we use.
Please review the notices presented during checkout, FareHarbor’s customer terms, and FareHarbor’s privacy statement. FareHarbor’s general privacy statement describes its own services and does not replace this policy for our use of your booking information.
How information is used and shared
We use information to answer questions, arrange and fulfill trips, send reservation or schedule updates, maintain business records, troubleshoot the website, prevent fraud or misuse, and meet legal obligations.
Information may be shared with the boat operators and crew who need it to provide your trip, and with service providers supporting reservations, payments, communications, hosting, security, or professional services. We may also disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect people, our services, or legal rights.
Cookies, security, and external links
We use hosting and security providers to help deliver and protect the website. These providers may process technical information and use security technologies. The staff sign-in page uses automated abuse protection, and a session cookie keeps authorized staff signed in.
Our hosting provider’s website analytics measures performance and traffic without advertising cookies. With your permission, we use Google Analytics 4 on mdrsf.com to understand visits, engagement, traffic sources, and outbound booking-link clicks. Google Analytics uses cookies and processes technical and interaction information such as browser and device details, IP addresses, pages visited, and referral sources. Our Google Analytics tag runs only on the live public site, not on preview sites or staff admin pages. Advertising personalization and Google Signals are disabled in this implementation. We may use Meta Pixel (Facebook Pixel) in the future for advertising measurement; it is not currently installed. If enabled, Meta may use cookies and associate website activity with a Facebook or Instagram account.
Google Analytics loads only after you select “Allow analytics.” You can decline or withdraw permission using “Cookie settings” in the footer. We save your choice in this browser for up to six months. Our Analytics cookies are configured to expire after 60 days, subject to renewal on later visits. Before enabling Meta Pixel or changing these purposes, we will update this policy and the relevant privacy controls. You can learn more in Google’s privacy policy and Meta’s privacy policy, and use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The website does not automatically respond to a browser’s Do Not Track signal; the analytics choice described above controls whether Google Analytics loads.
You can control cookies through your browser, although blocking necessary cookies may affect sign-in or booking functions. FareHarbor and external sites such as Instagram and Google Maps may use their own cookies and collect information when you visit them. Their privacy notices and controls apply to their services.
Retention and security
We retain information as needed for the purposes described here, including reservations, customer service, accounting, legal requirements, and dispute resolution. Retention depends on the information and the reason it is held. Our providers may have separate retention requirements.
We use safeguards intended to protect information, including encrypted website connections and restricted staff access. No website, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your choices and privacy requests
Contact us to ask about your information or request access, correction, or deletion. Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have additional privacy rights. We may need to verify your identity, and some information may need to be retained for legal or business obligations. We will respond as required by applicable law and can coordinate booking-related requests with FareHarbor where appropriate.
Children’s information
Trip reservations should be made by an adult. This website is not intended for children under 13 to submit personal information independently. Parents or guardians may provide passenger details needed for a family booking. If you believe a child has submitted information without appropriate permission, please contact us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services or practices change. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Where required, we will provide additional notice of material changes.
